Client Security Issues

It has been recently announced that there is a severe security flaw in uTorrent. The good news is that uTorrent has finally patched this bug. The bad news is that they only patched their latest release. Those that use the older versions of uTorrent because you do not like their newer ones are at risk!

More info about the security flaw: the flaw exists in the code that allows the client to be remote controlled over the web. Deactivating this feature does NOT remove the vulnerability. An attacker can use this vulnerability to execute code (hacks, viruses, root kits, etc) on your machine remotely.

Due to the severity of this vulnerability, we will be taking steps to ban the use of older uTorrent clients. They are not banned, right this moment, but the banning IS coming down the road.

Users of older uTorrent clients are STRONGLY encouraged to either upgrade to the latest version, or switch to a different client ASAP!

Any news regarding potential security issues will be posted there. Any users who find these posts useful can subscribe to the forum. This will tell the system to send you a PM every time there is a new post there (new posts will only be from staff and only when there is a security issue to report, so fear not the spam). We hope that this will help everyone stay informed, without spamming the site with announcements every time there is a security concern.
