A well-known network of online adult content accounting for 6 million daily visitors has launched its premium version, a paid subscription platform dubbed “Netflix for porn”. As you may understand, persuading users to pay for content has proved a tough job in the digital age, especially in adult entertainment, where there’s plenty of free content and where services’ record on payment security is dismal.

Pornhub agrees that a view from a paying customer generates more revenue for the copyright owner than that from a non-paying user. However, it is not a secret that record labels take out enormous cuts of the collected royalties, and the same will happen to Pornhub’s subscription revenue. The service insists that monthly payments will be secure, encrypted, and “discrete” in terms of how they appear on bank statements.
