We get a lot of questions from users who are clearly used to draconian tracker policies about where they are and aren't allowed to access OT from. Let's get it straight now - we do not care. You can access OT from whatever IP address you want. You can use any VPN you want. You do not have to inform us about your seedbox's IP. You do not have to tell us about your vacation plans. You can use tor. You can access OT from your university. You don't have to use your home IP at least once to get it on record or anything. We do not care.

The only caveat to this is that if you use an IP address that some other OT account also uses, it may prompt a duplicate account investigation. It probably won't, but if it does, we will check to see what the IP belongs to before we think about holding it against you. Obviously we are not going to ban you because you and someone else both used an IP that belongs to a Starbucks somewhere. We know that doesn't mean you're duping. The associations are automatically made by the site, but no action will be taken until a human confirms that duping is absolutely what's going on. If you're not duping, you don't need to worry about it.

To go even further, we offer expunge services that let you remove information about your account from our records. If you have an IP or email address in your account history that you want scrubbed from our servers, you may submit an expunge request by locating the entry in the appropriate history tool and clicking the [x] button next to it. Staff will review the request and accept it (or in very rare circumstances, deny it). To issue an expunge request, first go to your user profile by clicking your username on the right side of the navigation bar at the top of the page. Once in your profile, you will see two links in your linkbox near the top. One is "Email History", and one is "IP History". Clicking either of those will take you a list of historical information associated with your account. These are the pages from which expunge requests are made (by using the [x] buttons). Please feel free to make use of them.

Stop sending us messages asking if you can use the site from somewhere. We know some trackers make a stink about it, but we don't care and don't want to know. We even let you delete that information - that's how much we don't want to know.
