Mar-13-13 - Crossroads for PWT

PWT has come a long way since it's early incarnations back in 2003. Back then we weren't even known as PWT, used public trackers and basically only had a forum.

While working hard at a new PWT, another looming issue has taken it's toll on the site, as most of you have noticed over the last few months. Unfortunately it now seems to be consuming us.

After our lovely friends on the indy scene cut off the access to use PayPal, donations have been at 0% for a period of 2.5 months. This means that I am currently eating up the entire bill for PWT, something that simply is not a possible option. At the moment, it even means that our irc server is in danger.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not blaming our members for this. You guys are still a great bunch of people But it's time for me to do a long hard think on what to do.

While we are now merely a month removed from having a decade celebrated online, I honestly can't say that I know if we'll be around for it. It's a rather painful realization to come to, but I need to take a long hard look to decide if it can be done. Maybe there's simply no room for an old dinosaur like PWT in today's modern file sharing universe.

Ideas for where to take PWT forward has been multiple, but without resources to keep it all running, there's not really much we can do.

This is not meant as some sort of melodramatic crisis post. It's simply what state we're currently in, and how I as the owner of PWT is thinking.

PWT is still lots of fun, and it is very rewarding to run the site and community. But realistically, I will need to consider what it is worth to keep it all afloat.
