    February Theme: Love

    Woody:

Mercury Rev - You're My Queen: Frail voice, thundering heartbeat rhythm, metaphorical yet succinct lyrics, leaves me wanting more. Sounds like love to me. Taken from the 3rd album of an epic trifecta. (IMO)

    Vitz:

Captain Ahab - U Want Me: A brilliant parody of the usual whiny love songs that aim to strike a chord with insecure teenagers. "U Want Me" is a delicious "fuck you" to the industry, made abundantly clear by the contrast created by the other tracks on this album, and even more so by the song's accompanying video.

    pogglywoggly:

Eric Clapton - Layla: What needs to be said? Brilliance. Raspy Clapton voice and fantastic guitar what more do you need?

    grovvyds:

Van Morrison - Moondance: So when deciding on a first dance love song for our wedding, we chose 'Crazy Love' which was perfect and beautiful. A great song, and fitting for me and my girl. Van Morrison does it again!

    condon313:

Andrew Jackson Jihad - I Love You: Because deplorable human beings fall in love too, in their own sick and twisted ways.

    galador:

Fitz and the Tantrums - L.O.V.: I could have picked just about any song off this album for various stages of love, but this one is the one that sticks out to me. "I don't believe you've given up on love I'm hoping that you'll come around".

    olenpriit:

KING - Supernatural: Figured I'd post something happy for a change. My love life's been anything but magical and when I think about the matter I'm more likely to come up with songs of shit going wrong than cutesy ballads of hopes and yet-to-be shattered dreams. But I won't give into the temptation of posting something gloomy. Because despite everything I'm still all about the mind boggling idiocy inducing world shattering effect that love has on us. 'Supernatural' has the celestial grace and childish innocence that only a title like that could contain. I just hope that one day I'll experience the kind of enchantment extolled by this ethereal stroke of beauty.

    thrace:

This Is Your Captain Speaking - Storyboard: This whole album does it all for me — when I'm happy I tend to be exuberant, and this keeps me grounded. When I'm sad it raises my spirits carefully, without trivialising . When I can't find the words, this just makes perfect sense.
