DDoS Update

As with all websites on the internet, we deal with denial of service attacks from time to time. This one has been rather nasty and resulted in some serious downtime for the site. We thank you for your patience as we work to battle this attack - our developers have been working non-stop.

In the war against DDoS, capacity is king - the way to outlast an attack is to have more resources available. We have deployed the services of CloudFlare, who provide far more bandwidth and filtering power than we could on our own. This will help protect the main site against further downtime. Unfortunately, it cannot protect our IRC network, which is also under considerable attack at this time. We are working to mitigate this attack as well.

You should expect some downtime on the site in the next few days while we clean up some residual damage and do some server house-keeping. We will try to keep both our Twitter and the topic of #what.cd-help up to date regarding the status.

UPDATE 15 The 46 IP for the tracker has been VERY unstable - therefore we have taken it out of the round robin. The 192 IP is now the primary tracker IP. You do not need to put anything into your hosts file, just clear your DNS cache and you should be up and running.

UPDATE 14 We have added a second IP for the tracker - those of you who are having trouble connecting to the current IP starting with 46 should add 192.99.4.44 to your hosts file. The IP is added in round-robin fashion - if you are not having tracker problems, please leave your hosts file alone.

UPDATE 17: the DDoSer has managed to take down both of the proxies we have been using for our tracker. This means the tracker will be down shortly as well as mail services. Things that depend on email (invites, password resets, email confirmations, etc.) will not function until further notice. We appreciate your continued patience as we work toward a solution.
