This message is addressed only to those who have invite privileges, which may include Power Users who still have 1 invite left. Users who received this PM and do not have invite privileges may feel free to ignore it. The big changes are in bold, with the rest being explanations for them.

This PM serves as notice of several changes to the invite rules, as well as a reminder or two. Namely that we are changing our policy on sending invites to those in banned ranges. We have a longstanding policy of banning IP ranges when the number of good users in that range outnumbers the number of bad users. Typically existing users within those ranges are allowed to stay, but we absolutely do not allow any new users within banned ranges to hold an account. It has gotten to the point that most of the IP ranges in certain countries have been banned here, therefore it only makes sense to us to disallow signups overall for these countries. It was creating too much work for staff, and too many disappointed people, to still allow members to send invites to countries that were mostly banned. Below are the updated invite rules to which this refers to:

    Quote:
    3. Do not invite anyone from Egypt, Romania, India, Turkey, Italy, or Portugal.

Due to high amounts of abuse most of the IP ranges in these countries have been banned on x264.me.

No new signups are allowed from these countries or ranges.

Anyone caught using a seedbox or proxy to get around these bans will be immediately disabled.

For countries that have large ranges banned here but aren't completely banned yet, you can still send good users in those countries an invite, but they may not be able to signup here.

    Quote:
    4. Persons in the countries of Brazil, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Malaysia may not be able to sign up here.

Although the above is all that we are changing, we'd also like the take this opportunity to remind all our users of Bulletin #2 on the Invite page. It clearly warns against inviting back already disabled users. When you attempt to send an invite to an email that has already been used here, the system will alert you to this in the form of an error page, with a warning (that we recently made more clear) not to invite that individual. If you ignore that warning and break this rule on purpose and in a most obvious manor, you can expect your invite privileges to be revoked (for life) at the least. Should you break this rule unknowingly, the likely result will simply be staff telling you to be more careful with who you invite in the future.

    Thank you,

    Staff
