I discovered the album in the beginning of July this year. I don't rememeber where I first saw it, but I snatched it. At first, I wasn't too interested, but I have always made a point of trying to discover music. So I listened to it. Interestingly, it helped me fall asleep a few times. I didn't listen to the lyrics then, I enjoyed the tunes. At one point, intrigued by the acapella-esque opening, I decided to listen to the lyrics. I also listened to the other 4 albums from the series, and while I liked them I haven't dedicated as much time to them. I read a ton of reviews, and Act III was considered the best until this album came along. I fully agree.

When I first really listened to the album, I was impressed. It manages to contain a variety of different musical styles all fiting together perfectly. While doing some research, I came across this guy, who refers to it as overproduced Indie Prog Rock. Well, I view that as a good thing. The artist has put a lot of effort into writing the music and the story, which is apparent by listening to the album. The production quality is exceptional and at no point do I feel as if something is out of place, it all fits, like a puzzle.

Appart from being very pleasant to the ear, the story also adds as much to the album. I haven't listened enough times tot he album to be completely familiar with them. However, I recommend you listen to the album while reading the lyrics to get a full picture of the album. The different musical themes represent different characters, a technique also used in cinematography. The story also makes heavy use of foreshadowing.

Another thing that caught my attention was the album art. It's gorgeous and so intriguing. The blend of realism of the buildings and the fantastic patterns the trees really show the directin the tale will take you.

First, for those who don't know, the What.CD mixtape is browsable online. All collages and artists of WCD Era are here, searchable, browsable.

Thanks to it, I could notice that
    1) In the 9 years of What.CD picks, there was only 4 Klezmer picks (out of 1586 Staff Picks).
    2) One of my preferred artists, the Kolsimcha quintet, is so unknown they never had any album uploaded neither on WCD nor on APL.

    It had to change !
So here is "Kolsimcha & London Symphony Orchestra", a klezmer / symphonic / indie recording that took my breath away and blew my mind.

I hope you will appreciate this album as much as I do and get the same feelings of wonder and hype !

I could say many things on it, but as the saying goes: "A sound is worth a thousand words". so without further ado, here's a medley of the album from the Kolsimcha Youtube Channel to get an idea of what to expect: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qZZzFrQp3M

Have a nice listen for this music, a Happy New Year and nice listens for all the musics you will discover this year!
