Interesting new trends in SCI-FI

Over the last year or so there has been an interesting trend in "indie" or self published sci-fi authors going mainstream at amazing paces. B V Larson is one of the most noteworthy of these with the success of his Star Force series another author of similar note is Jay Allan coming more or less out of nowhere in 2012 rising to bestselling fame with his crimson world series.

There seem to be similar "trends" on the way with authors like H. Paul Honsinger leading the pack of emerging new SCI-Fi authors with two of his new "Man of War" series being already available as ebooks and even better the audiobooks to be released over the next month.
