Internal encoder flag (for torrents) - 06/03/14


We have now begun implementing the internal encode flag for torrents. For more info and future plans, please read this announcement.

It is now possible to indicate a torrent is internal. For now it will just get a star behind the title, but we have more in the pipeline. Later more. First some stipulations:


- It applies to encodes only (offers as well as actual uploads).
- The HDBits definition of an internal is that it constitutes content that is encoded by an HDBits member or group, specifically, but not exclusively, for HDBits. This means that it doesn't have to be an HDBits exclusive, but it does have to be encoded with HDBits in mind and uploaded to HDBits not long after the upload to another tracker.
- You do NOT need the encoder flag to mark an encode as internal.
- To prevent abuse, you cannot set the internal flag after the upload.
- We reserve the right to take away the internal flag for one or more torrents if we feel it does not meet our quality standards and eventually to prohibit someone from marking a torrent as internal.
- Abusing the internal flag will result in a warning or worse.
- In case of doubt, please contact staff


What we currently have in the pipeline:


- Automatically mark as many historic internal releases as possible as internal, based on known internal groups/individuals
- Implement a filter for internals on browse.php
- Implement an attribute for internals in the API
- Give people a nice incentive to download internal encodes
