Anthelion staff will be performing updates to our IRC server next weekend, scheduled to take place between Friday, Feb. 28, and Sunday, Mar. 2. These updates will include both security and feature-related improvements to the IRCD service and Anope IRC services. We will also be updating the webchat client at this time.

The only immediate change for users is the deprecation of port 6667 and non-SSL clients entirely. However, this should not affect any user with a somewhat recent client. You may notice that the Nebulon server settings in your client will now be locked to TLS only. If you are using a client older than our site's inception, we recommend updating to a newer client now or searching Google for "Does [xxxxx] IRC client support SSL?" That said, we do not anticipate this change causing issues for anyone.



The actual update is not scheduled for a specific day but should only take a few hours to complete. We will update this thread with the exact timing once the process begins and notify you when it is complete.

All existing users’ NickServ passwords will be retained, as we have database backups to migrate to the new installation.

No other settings or URLs are expected to change at this time. However, please be aware that IRC may be inaccessible for a period next weekend.
