The fundraiser is going strong, and gordeezycrunch is here to give it a summertime boost. As an entrant in The What.CD Online Store's Fourth Apparel Design Contest, gordeezycrunch immediately stood out on account of the slick, isometric design he submitted. This design—Rippy & Scratchy—is now being featured on two new shirts and a new vinyl sticker! The shirt design is a black print on both slate and white American Apparel Fine Jersey Short Sleeve T-Shirts. Sizing information can be found here. The stickers are 3" x 2" rectangular vinyl stickers, with a black print over a red backing. NOTE: Other contest winners and runners-up will be announced at a later date. Congratulations, gordeezycrunch, and thanks for your awesome contribution! A glimpse at the design and store links to the new product pages can be found below.

Mulatu Astatqé - Ethiopiques Volume 4: Ethio Jazz & Musique Instrumentale, 1969-1974

    Genre: jazz, world.music, ethiopia, afrobeat

    Torrents: torrents.php?id=30402

    Review:
Largely the work of formidable musician-arranger Mulatu Astatqe, the 14 instrumentals here were originally issued on two LPs in 1972 and 1974 in Ethiopia, and represent a curious blend of soul-jazz and R&B with just a smattering of Ethiopian roots breaking up the stabbing horn lines, wah-wah guitars, and simmering electric piano. Curious, because at the time jazz was not very popular in Ethiopia, but that is no reflection on the quality of these primitively recorded sides of idiosyncratic Afro-funk. The grooves are long and laconic, the sound reminiscent of Miles Davis's "In a Silent Way" paired with Cannonball Adderly and Roy Ayers. But, as with all things Ethiopian, the music retains its own unique and unmistakable identity, one somewhere between a late-night jazz hole-in-the-wall group and a supper club belly-dancing combo. There are some very inventive arrangements and vigorous soloing, rendering a highly articulate and listenable music

My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult - 13 Above the Night

    Genre: Industrial, Dance,

    Torrents: torrents.php?id=463935

    Review:
On “13 Above The Night”, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult are at their peak musically as well as lyrically. They manage to create a soundtrack to a late night downtown atmosphere with depraved, drug filled raves, dark sexuality and prostitution while still sounding evil. To this they add some characters: a satanic killer("Delicate Terror"),boy("Badlife") and a girl("Dirty Little Secrets") with a subtle story throughout the record.

The Click Five - Greetings From Imrie House

    Genre: power.pop, pop, alternative

    Torrents: torrents.php?id=136454

    Review:
This is one of the greatest power-pop albums I've heard in my short life, and it is one of the main reasons that I believe that the power-pop genre will save the world. Adam Schlesinger, who wrote arguably the greatest power-pop song ever, wrote the incredible "Just the Girl," and Paul Stanley co-wrote the equally wonderful "Angel to You (Devil to Me)." You can't go wrong with a pedigree like that! I also love this album because it is the subject of one of the worst music reviews I have ever read.

    Review:
This latest release by Slow Magic is their first album and is really a fantastic release in every sense of the word! Each and every track on this album is important to the overall sound of the album and none are weak or not necessary. This is really what I consider Slow Magic to be at it's very best and this album has been a while in the making! The songs on this album have the ability to put anyone listening into a good mode and make stress just dissipate. It's like getting a massage for your brain so all that's left to do is sit back and enjoy these great songs! My personal favorite is Toddler Tiger but like I said, they are ALL great! If you like this, check out my college Radio Ninja which is my college of all music played on this show and Slow Magic is a frequent sound you will hear along with some other great bands so check it out! Enjoy!

Ahmad Jamal - Complete Live at the Spotlight Club

    Genre: Jazz

    Torrents: torrents.php?id=156602

    Review:
AMG Review: "Gambit presents the Ahmad Jamal Trio recorded Live at the Spotlite Club in Washington, D.C. on September 5 and 6, 1958. Beautifully remastered and carefully sequenced so as to closely approximate the original order of presentation, these performances illustrate the dramatic interplay between pianist Jamal, bassist Israel Crosby and drummer Vernell Fournier. Best heard at sunset, late at night by candlelight, or in a cozy room softly illumined by indirect incandescence, this music offers the listener an opportunity to savor both what Jamal plays and what he doesn't play. His sense of timing, the way he employs contrasting dynamics and his quirky flair for the dramatic have always made Ahmad Jamal an exciting performer. His Spotlite recordings are filled with surprises and exhilarating passages, such as the spirited rendition of "Squatty Roo" by the great Johnny Hodges. Note that much of the nearly three hours of material recorded nine months earlier at the Pershing Club in Chicago appears to have vanished; one can only hope that some sort of time capsule will one day surface, packed with reels of all-but-forgotten Jamal, and be shared with the public. Happily, a much larger percentage of the music recorded at the Spotlite did survive, found its way onto numerous albums over the years, and appears here in Gaslight's gloriously dilated complete edition. Three studio-recorded bonus tracks have been added to this excellent compilation; these elusive rarities were originally issued as 45 rpm singles."

    Review:
An amazing debut album from the lead singer of The Zombies. The album features ex-Zombies Rod Argent and Chris White as producers. Blunstone's voice is absolutely ethereal, and the arrangements are exquisite. Not for everyone, but one of my all-time favorite albums.

Year of No Light - Nord

    Genre: Post-Metal

    Torrents: torrents.php?id=2728

    Review:
"Year of No Light are a post-metal band from Bordeaux, France. Their first album, Nord, is standard post-metal done extremely well, for lack of a better description. The album twists and turns through melodic chords, aggressive harsh vocals, intricate leads, a solid rhythm section, and superb songwriting, and is a release to interest fans of Isis, Russian Circles, and Rosetta."

Mr. Oizo & Gaspard Augé - Rubber

    Review:
An obsession I have found myself enjoying since I heard these songs in the movie that this music was written to accompany. It takes you through a lifetime of emotions from simple child-like curiosity to world domination through experimental beats and fantastically simple melodies. These guys definitely make a great duo and this album–though short—leaves me wanting more every time.

    Dethklok - Dethalbum II

    Genre: Melodic Death Metal

    Torrents: torrents.php?id=579438

    Review:
While the first Dethalbum was more of an accompaniment to the show, Dethalbum II demonstrates that Dethklok (Brendon Small, Gene Hoglan) is capable of songs that stand on their own. It's an evolution in terms of style and depth, but it doesn't sacrifice or stray too far from its roots in comedy to shine more brightly as a metal album.
