VPNs and connectivity
We're receiving an increasing amount of staff messages from members using VPNs, who are experiencing issues with their clients showing zero peers and/or failing to connect.

This problem is usually accompanied by the need to complete a human verification (Captcha) when logging in to the site via a browser.

While this mainly affects some VPN users, there have also been one or two members not using VPNs who have been required to complete a Captcha to log in.

This is a part of CloudFlares IP reputation filtering and means that your IP or that of the VPN you are using is on CloudFlares blacklist (not ours). And if you do have to complete the Captcha to log in to the site, a client announcing from that same IP will not work.

The solution if using a VPN is to select another country/IP if you can, or switch off the VPN while connecting here.

If you're not using a VPN but experiencing these issues then the chances are that a range of your service providers IPs are blacklisted by CloudFlare (We have noticed this with a couple of Thailand members). This can be fixed if you have dynamic IPs, by rebooting your modem so that it is assigned of a new IP. Of course you could be given another bad one so may have to repeat the rebooting if it doesn't work. You may have to take up the issue with your ISP if all the IPs available to you are blacklisted.

For the sake of security we will not whitelist blocked VPN IPs and as stated in the FAQ, you are welcome to use VPNs on TVC but their functionality is your responsibility. If you're having these issues and NOT using a VPN let us know and we'll check and see if we can do anything.
