    Printed Media Rule Changes

The Printed Media rules have been completely rewritten from the ground up. Old rules (while passable) were outdated, written in a disorganised way and incorrect due to changes that happened over the years.
These new rules have been broken down into global rules for all printed media as well as specific sections for individual printed media rules for your convenience and understanding.

Detailed changes or additions to the old rules will be highlighted now (but you should still read the full rules, link is at the bottom):

Specifics of what content is allowed and disallowed is now clearly visible.
"Novels" are no longer allowed in any form - this was clarified and added as a result of .epub now being supported leading to a dramatically increased possibility of such uploads occuring. Not to be confused with "Light Novels" which are allowed and fit into the scope of what we stock at AnimeBytes.
Added rule that "Miscellaneous files" should not be included in uploads (e.g. NFO or TXT files).
Reworded "Artbook" rules to clarify that they are only permissible if related to Anime, Manga or Light Novel series.
Added section on "Group information" with guidelines on how to fill information correctly, and what names, punctuation and translation to use.
Reworded and clarified "Ongoing Content" rules. Moved to individual section for clarity.
"Scanlated" has been reworded to "Translated" to correct a loophole and incorrect tagging of potential uploads. Also includes general guidelines.
Added "Release Group" section with new rules as follows:
      ○ Added ability to define release group to all Printed Media torrents, similar to Anime. This should be used to give credit to original releaser or publisher.
      ○ Printed Media releases by different groups may now co-exist.
      ○ Added section that torrents must be marked as "Various" on the release group if the release contains multiple groups due to old groups dropping series. Full group credit and naming must be added to the Release Description instead.
      ○ In cases where a group has released files in multiple resolutions, both may now be uploaded. User-made downscaled releases are not allowed.
Added "Release Format" section, see full rules for specifics.
Reworded and clarified "Quality" guideline (aka, no poor scans or watermarked reader rips).
Added a section on "Naming Conventions" which now indicates folder and file name requirements of zero-padded numbers for reader software usage. Correcting and trumping such releases is possible.
Archives now has it's own section with the following rules:
      ○ Manga, Hentai and Artbooks must be archived and marked with the correct archive format.
      ○ Removed user ability to upload Unarchived Printed Media. This is a big change and the reasoning is that firstly almost no group releases things unarchived. Readers these days are almost always able to read and display from the archive directly so there is honestly no purpose to unarchived uploads. This is a needed change to lessen staff work on significant prunes (retention is very bad), prevent users uploading unarchived to reach higher user classes then dumping them and to consolidate seeder base for the series better.
Therefore: current unarchives will be removed unless no archive already exists or the current archive has less than two seeders on site. This will occur a week from this post.
      ○ The allowed archive formats are ZIP, RAR, and 7z. .cbz, .cbr and .cb7 are also allowed.
Added rule on how to use Release Description and what to put here. Also forbidding the advertisement of other sites and priority "claiming" of uploads to other sites.
Made the following adjustments for "Manga specific rules":
      ○ Oneshots now have their own definition and specific rules .
      ○ Doujinshi now have their own definition and specific rules, including in which cases Doujinshi is acceptable.
      ○ Manga can now be marked as "Digital" when uploading or editing a torrent.
Completely revamped the Light Novel specific rules with the following additions:
      ○ Defined what a Light novel is to differentiate it from Novels and be acceptable to upload.
      ○ Light Novels can now be uploaded as "archived" scans or .epub digital releases.
      ○ "Translated" Light Novel uploads must not be simply images of an existing eBook release.
      ○ Uncompressed .PNG scans are not permissible, nor is converting fixed formats to flowable .epubs.
      ○ Light Novels may be uploaded as an OCR'd .epub with PRIOR staff permission, see rules for full details.
Improved Hentai wording and added that hentai tags must follow site tagging rules. User generated "bloat" tags will be removed. Do not use tags given from various other hentai sites.
    Added Hentai "anthology" uploading rule.
Duplicates, Trumping and Co-existing rules added for user convenience.

These are simply the main additions to the rules and guidelines, see the full rules here. If you wish to see the old rules, you may still read them here. Any questions, concerns or you feel we've missed anything - please let us know in the thread and it will be adjusted if required.

Finally, you may notice that the rules section has now been broken down into specific media, we plan to update and adjust each section over time so bear with us as "Printed" and "Music" are the only finished ones for now.
