Attention, all members.

Beginning July, we will start disabling/pruning inactive accounts.

Right now, only the inactive "User" class are subjected to automatic pruning by the system.

We will start manually pruning inactive accounts, irrespective of user classes save for VIPs, FTN Legends, Uploaders and of course Staff.

To start with, members who were last seen before a certain date (say 2013-01-01), will be pruned. This news post will be of no use to this group as they won't be logging in to read this.

Torrent activity - downloading, uploading and seeding - is the primary activity of this site.

Forum and IRC activity will also be counted. If you're not a forum person, you can be active in the IRC. If you're not an IRC person, you can be active in the forums.

If you're only here for the torrents and have no time to participate in the forums or IRC, then start downloading and seeding torrents consistently.

We need to run a site here. The existence of this site is also dependent on donations. So, donating will also be considered as an activity.

Members can be active in any or many of the ways mentioned above. But, only the current activity counts. If you had used the site for torrents in 2006 or if you used to be active in forums or irc in 2007 or if you had donated in 2008, will it help the site in the present or in the future? The site is thankful for your past participation and it has been around for you. But, the site needs current contribution to function. We see no room for complaints. If you have no use for this site any more, it becomes just a bookmark on your browser. You won't be missing any thing if you lose that bookmark.

A certain amount of leniency will be shown in pruning inactive accounts. Valid reasons for inactivity will be taken into account. Past vital contributions will be considered. But, staff will soon start to randomly pull inactive accounts and disable them. By no means, is this a penalty. This should be treated as an incentive for the members to use this site.
