As most of you know, we have been down for the past 4 days. I hope most of you stayed updated by following our twitter.

The cause of this downtime is PTP being forced to change hosts. This is not something we could have anticipated; it caught us with as much surprise as it did you. We have been hard at work for the past 4 days securing hosting solutions not only for the present, but for the future. The temporary server we are on for the next month will cost us $500/month (plus $100/month for our development / backup IRC server), for a total cost of $600 for this month's hosting.

We are looking to move to a more permanent solution that will secure PTP's future for years. We are hoping to move to a colocated solution with a new host in a month. The cost of the new hosting solution will be $200/month, which is $150 less per month than we were paying with our last host, and $300 less per month than we are paying with our current temporary host. While this sounds like a no-brainer, it does require us to purchase a server. This server will not be owned by any one individual, it will be owned by the site. We are currently in the process of pricing out a server, but we anticipate it being in the $2500 range. We will let you know as soon as we do what the final cost of the server will be. With our current reserves of ~$600, this means we need to raise some money.

We return today with some sad news in the movie world. Director Sidney Lumet has passed away. He is most known for directing 12 Angry Men, Dog Day Afternoon, Network, and The Verdict, all of which he was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Director. He received an honorary Academy Award for lifetime achievement in 2005. All together, his films were nominated for more than 50 Oscars. He will be missed, and may he rest in peace. His films will be freeleech for the next 72 hours in honor of his life.
