Site Downtime Explanation


As I'm sure many of you have noticed, we have been down for a little over a day. We had a problem with our database approximately 30 hours ago, but we were able to restore the site from backups which were last taken 2 hours before the crash. The majority of the downtime was due to the lengthy restore process. Thanks to paperk and the rest of staff for their work over the past day in bringing us back up.

We have noticed several bugs since restoring our backups, and have attempted to fix most of them. Fortunately, we only lost 10 torrents. These torrents were uploaded while we were still in the process of repairing the site post-crash, and we would like to welcome (even encourage) their uploaders to reupload these torrents. The majority of the bugs revolve around forum and comment indexing. All of the posts and comments are still there, but may not be linked/indexed correctly. If you notice anything, please report it in the bug forum.

Over the next few days/weeks, we will be reevaluating our backup system and entire server setup in our continuing efforts to reach the perfect combination of security, speed, and availability. This may require us to increase donations if we rent additional hardware, but at our current rate of donations, we should definitely be able to cover costs.
