Some downtime...


There has been some downtime over the past 6 hours, and I'd like to give some insight on the issue we faced.

Last night I was adjusting some firewall entries (we have a large amount of rules in place with iptables) and the server went unresponsive after I removed a few old entries. After rebooting the server, it appears it was hanging on a fsck (filesystem check) and needed our password entered to run a full scan/fix errors (it was our data drive).

This morning, after receiving console access, I was able to run the fsck normally and boot the server up successfully. The reason this took longer than expected was because a technician had to be supplied to look at the server (only to then realize it was just asking for the check) and this problem happened around 2:30 AM local time.

We don't appear to have any data loss, but report any problems you might have and we'll take a look at them.
