Password/account security - 25/07/14


Recently we've learned that Blackcats-Games has been compromised and all data was leaked. For your security here on HDBits (and other trackers/sites) we would like to again remind you that your HDBits password should be strong and unique to HDBits. Concretely, anyone who is or was a member of BCG and use the same password on HDBits, is strongly encouraged to change their password as soon as possible. The same warning is valid for your email address if that too uses the same password. All account hijackings here on HDB will be treated as negligence and will result in a long warning or a permaban.

In addition, if you are ever forced to change your password by the system it means someone tried to bruteforce your account and at some point got the password right. Consider your password compromised.

EDIT: we have implemented a new and more secure way to store your hashed passwords. As we don't know your original password they will only be converted on password change or re-login. Therefore we recommend to logout and login once. That's all it'll take.
