Some back end stuff to become more DMCA compliant.

PM system basically puts in a monitor and link-back to the forum pm system. It’s obviously better than whatever we could manage to hack up. The notifications will be at the top of the content area of the screen (you’ll know it when you see it). This also prompted redo the error/warning/info messaging system. It now makes sense and is . . . how you say . . . consistent and readable?

Torrent Reaper will remove dead torrents. At 90 days dead torrents (zero peers) are removed from the main list but remain visible to the owners and admins. This will allow the owner to get whatever info off it. 30d later, it will be deleted, never to be seen again.

DMCA compliance is the one that will scare people but it shouldn’t. You’ve probably noticed some shit the last month or so and that’s why, really. Just some back end stuff that will bring us more inline. There will be some related policy changes coming up.

This is a girl who doesn’t need an improvement transformation; in fact, taking her glasses away is an almost surefire way to reduce her attractiveness!

Chicks in Specs Freak Week

The way freak week works is simple: post any torrents you have that fit the theme.

This week’s focus tags: glasses and freak.week. Put these exact tags in your taglist so people can find the posts.
Don’t forget to put “Freak Week!” in the title.
It will run until October 2.
If you know of an older post that fits this theme, link to it in the forum thread.

It’s been a while since we had one of these, and i really want to get back into doing them. They can be a lot of fun. I think we’ll do “Weird Shit” next time. The last time was like 2007 and it was funny as hell.

The Return of the Reaper

The torrent-reaper will be returning soon.

A reaper automatically deletes old, dead torrents. Torrents which have had zero seeds for X number of days. We haven’t decided yet what X number of days will be, but it will probably be about a week or two. Again, this will only affect dead torrents.

If you want to save screenshots or any other parts of your old upload descriptions, I advise you to do so as quickly as possible. The reaper will likely be activated as soon as the code is tested and working properly.

The End of a Torrent Era

Bomkia, popular poster for a very long time, has decided to retire. Bomkia started posting on Empornium waay back in 04. He was more active back then. I don’t remember but i’m sure he was up around 5k posts over there as well before moving here in 06.

Real life has taken over, I have a live in girlfriend and a job that takes a lot of time. But I couldn’t stop at 3999 torrents, I needed to go out with a bang. I hope you enjoy it.

So after 4000 posts, I happened to catch him active on irc. happens ocassionally.

after the 2nd move on tuesday, there were a number of little interface and tweakly issues with with site (including this blog not necessarily working right). i think, however, we’ve got them all fixed.

thanks one and all for your patience while we deal.

frownly face downtime

long story short, there were multiple problems that weren’t evident until we had the config running under load, as sometimes happens. pile of problems. so i changed back to the old place and we’re going to start over with it tomorrow.

if the site came up and you stopped your torrents earlier today, sorry but those stats are lost. they rolled into the twilight zone. it helps every leecher as much as it hurts every seeder and it generally balances. sorry if it hurt your stats and congrats if it helped you.

for now, tho, the site is up as it is for at least the next 12-15 hours.


Upcoming Downtime

Today there will be some downtime for several hours while we move to a new host.

What we’ll do is down the entire site then change the dns after we take care of some things. You will see a site down message. When the site comes back, everything should be changed for you.

If you’re concerned about stats, all you have to do is leave torrents running until the site comes back. At that point, so long as your torrent client reports no error messages from the tracker, you can stop the torrent.
