    The Bigger Update

We've made a giant update, but we don't want to spam the news page. Here's a link to the real thing: forums.php?action=viewthread&threadid=205

    Hi everyone,

It's been a long time since the last update. So we've decided to make it up to you, by introducing a never-before seen or even thought of system. Since we like long and confusing acronyms, we've coined it MTAUAS. It stands for Mac-Torrents Application and User Acceptance System, and it's totally awesome.

What happens to a user who doesn't know anyone that can give him/her an invite to Mac-Torrents? Does this user go on IRC and ask for an invite? Maybe, but that's unreliable, as it trusts that somebody will respond, and it puts the inviter at risk if the user actually turns out to be bad. So instead, the solution is simple: make a website-based application system.

With a top-notch team of recruiters (cue Uncle Sam), we now moderate applications. Users who register WITHOUT an invite will be redirect to the MTAUAS page when logged in until their application is approved. Upon approval, they'll immediately be given user status. To protect privacy, we will never disclose the identities of any recruiters. You'll notice that on the second screenshot, the user who replied to the fake application's name is "Mac-Torrents Recruiter". For security reasons, you're not allowed to ask anyone if they're a recruiter, and if they are, they're not allowed to tell you.

MTAUAS allows a level of precision and care in our user base that's never been seen before on any other private tracker. Now, utilizing our all-new class system (that update is so last month), MTAUAS truly demonstrates how it allows us to push boundaries. (C) Jony Ive

We're really excited to announce this. Rather than an old and untrustworthy IRC application system, we've created and tested this brand new system. We hope to see how it changes our user base very soon.

I'm happy to announce this solution to the constant problem of managing invites. We'll be improving it over time as we take in user feedback. Let's hope it works. And remember, this is just the first new system made possible by our revamped class system.

    Go Mac-Torrents!
