Gazelle is the framework that this site is built upon, it was created years ago when What.CD was still young and has since evolved into the beast that not only powers What.CD but also a handful of other sites. It has always been open source, available to anyone to look at, tinker with, or even use as the foundation of their own site. But Gazelle is not without its flaws, it suffers from a lacking architecture and endless spaghetti code. These are core problems and no matter how you work around them they still exist. Developing new functionality like the often requested record labels feature becomes a daunting if not impossible task. But not for long.

Today we're introducing a project called meteor-gazelle. It is a completely reimagined version of Gazelle, written in Javascript on top of the Meteor stack. Its goal is to create a new version of Gazelle for the modern day, fixing the flaws of the past and creating endless possibilities for the future.

This project is still young and under active development, it won't be ready for a major release for many months to come. The development of meteor-gazelle is open source, the project exists on Github and open to anyone who is interested in making a contribution through a pull request.
