Here we are for the October Newsletter. As mentioned in the last Newsletter, we are now starting to adjust the 'rules' into the Wiki. This will take a month or so. Please be patient, as we get this sorted.

Requests & Stats

Well well, well, no surprise that the Request Statistics show no discernable improvement from previous months

The majority of Requesters just want to take, take, take, by posting the least amount of information they can, but they expect others to go out of their way by not only trying to find the Request but also Testing, Preparing, Uploading and Seeding it.

These are approximate figures from September 8th - October 8th :-

30 Requests Created
0 Requests Deleted due to Rule Violation
25 Users Warned for Missing Info
2 Users have had their Request Privileges Revoked
3 Users Added the Missing Info after their Warning
5 Users Read the Rules and Created their Requests Correctly

Again, we ONLY have 3 Requirements:- Description, Image & More Info Link so we'll use these to determine the length of your Warning.

Missing 1 Requirement = 1 Week Warning
Missing 2 Requirements = 2 Week Warning
Missing 3 Requirements = 4 Week Warning

Now not only will you receive the appropriate Warning as stated above. As from 1st November we’ll also Disable your Request Privileges. You have been forewarned.


Beta versions

Beta versions are not allowed on site, unless approved by Staff, see: rules.php?p=upload#r1.2.5

'nightly' are Beta versions and fall under the above rule. Please do not upload them.


gmail

It appears the issue with gmail has been resolved. However we are recommending that if you have a gmail account here for BS, please change it to another provider.


Password age

Again this is a reminder and it needs to be taken on board. There are far too many members, with very old passwords, please take the time to change and update them. As mentioned in the July Newsletter:

We have a lot of accounts who's passwords have not been changed in 3+ years and you therefore need to rectify this ASAP. We are now imposing a Rule whereby the Maximum Password Age must not exceed 2 Years. As we find members, with old Passwords, you will be informed.
We will start to enforce this with warnings.


Torrent clients

More increasingly qBittorrent is heading for the blacklist, too many members who have ratio issues are using this client. We are giving this client one more month and it will then be added to the Blacklist.

Disabling of SIP

Again we can not update the rules, this however is an important issue.


Do not upload anything which requires disabling of SIP

We will be adding this to the Wiki.


Correcting Staff edits on Posts

If Staff edit your post, do not go and re-edit the post. If you have an issue on how it has been edited, send Staff a PM. Anyone doing this will receive a warning.


Rule changes

As a temporary fix to the rule changes, (due to code issues), we will be creating a 'Rule Change' in the Wiki. An announcement will be forthcoming on this.
