Happy new year, fellow bibliophiles! This is as good a time as any to introduce some new features and make a couple announcements:

    • If you choose to join us on IRC, we will soon be replacing the simple keyed channel with a bot to invite on a per-user basis. To that end, if you could visit your settings page and set an IRC key, that would be great. Note, that's IRC key, not passkey. The field you're looking for is under the field to set a new password. Like passwords, these are non-recoverable; you will need to set a new one if you lose or forget yours. You will have 48 hours from the time this announcement is posted to set an IRC key; after that time, we will be emptying the IRC channel to enforce the new way of doing things. If you have any trouble getting onto IRC after this change, please visit us in the new #bibliotik-help, which is at least for the time being a public channel. In order to join the main channel, you'll now need to send a privmsg to capek formatted like so:
/msg capek identify [SITE USERNAME] [IRC KEY]
(without the square brackets). Then capek will invite you to the channel and all will be wonderful.

    • µTorrent 3.4.x has not been playing nicely with the tracker, as some of you may have noticed. While the site performance has improved drastically, we are still working on the tracker side to fix issues. In the meantime, downgrading to 3.3.x or earlier is recommended, though alternative clients are available as well, including Deluge, qBittorrent, Transmission and rTorrent among others.

    • Comics are getting a bit of a facelift. Outside of a few notable exceptions - the Humble Bundle comics spring to mind - CBR and CBZ have been the dominant force in comic file formats for years due to their simplicity and ease of use, since they are simply renamed RAR or ZIP archives. In light of that, PDF will no longer be an allowed comic format going forward, and there will be a one month grace period for uploaders to ensure their torrents fall in line with the new rules. After a month from this announcement, any remaining PDF comic torrents will be deleted from the tracker. If you have uploaded any PDF comic torrents, you can convert them by extracting the images from the PDF and creating a new CBR from those. You can then re-upload the resulting CBR (provided it isn't already on the tracker in that format).

If you have any questions about these changes, please discuss them here.
