Guess what folks? It's PtN's birthday today! We've been three years online, and what a three years it's been! Through many ups and downs, hitches, glitches, boons and banes, we have made PtN what it is today. It's been a steady growth, and we have more growing to do. With growth comes changes, and with changes, comes a need for updates. Many things are in the works, with even more planned for the future, so without further delay, lets see if we can't sum it up.

First of all, as some of you may have noticed, I am back in the captain's seat. The universe has found me with more free time to spend, and a never ending desire to help see PtN into the future. As you know, PtN is, and always has been, a very dynamic organization, and the dynamo has sped lfc4ever on to other efforts. He's been a very hard working and passionate member of this staff team, and for all the work he did in my absence, I thank him heartily for taking such good care of this ship.

As you all may, also, have noticed, the staff team has shifted a bit, with some old heads back on the team. My goal, now that things have been streamlined, is to bring back the freewheeling spirit that propelled us to the success we've had, and I can't think of two more freewheeling goofballs than aftermath and Jimmi12, so I want to officially welcome them back, and warn everyone that either will be more than happy to steal your beer, and use it to make cookies. And they won't share either

Many folks who have been here for a longer period of time are well familiar with the Skaliwagz team, and their internal encodes. As time has progressed, they have refined their abilities and standards, and after 3 years, and nearly 1000 rips, they have become one of the best teams out there. As the coming months pass, you will see that we have decided to spend a lot of focus on improving them even more, and cementing their place as one of the best encoding teams in BT.


Those irc junkies out there may have noticed that we changed servers for the irc network, and this has caused some confusion for people, as we do run a fairly complex network, so we've experienced some glitches in the process, but I just wanted to let you all know that the decision was made so that we could eliminate the cost from the monthly budget by paying for a year in advance. There should be no big changes in the next year in other words, so come to irc, hang out, get points, and have a blast.

Just as a bit of info, we are shutting down the casino till it works properly. We understand there have been some problems with it, and for the early release, I apologize, but everyone who has played should have my thanks for helping "beta" test it. It's getting fixed before we roll it back out.

That seems to cover the major news of what's happened, and leads to the news of what's in the works.

As the next few months progress, we will be making some major changes to the way we do things around here. Among those things are a total revamp of our traffic policies, the application, invites policies and promotions. With an eye toward improving the overall efficacy of the torrent side of things, there will be some major changes to how we treat upload and download, give gold, and how they tie in to promotions. The promotion system will be changed alot, to stop the inherent traps involved in the total traffic approach to working your way up the ladder.

Sometime in the next month or two, we will also be giving details on a major project nearing completion, and it will address alot of the issues we feel are, while not necessarily obvious to you, the users, essential to address for the sake of stability. If you don't move forward, you will be left behind, and we do not intend to be sucking dust.

Well, I think I've covered the essentials, so I'll get on to the fun stuff:

Bake a cake that your fellow pirates would, gladly, run someone through for. It must have a PtN reference of some sort to be eligible.


Skully 's Sightseeing Tour Contest:

Our mascot Skully is really in need of a vacation, so help him see the world, and get the pics to prove it! Use the stencil provided in the forums and a light to shine Skully on famous places/things. The bigger, brighter, famouser the better! And just for clarity's sake, I mean to have people use a flashlight or spotlight to make the PtN skully, not actual paint We gotta be careful with physical graffiti, lest we end up being hunted like Somali pirates for trying to hijack the Louvre or something.

And the last big contest, while less competitive, is far more exciting. We are having a raffle folks. Entry in the raffle is easy, all members of PtN who have a real ratio over 1:1 are entered automatically. Anyone else, I'm sorry, but trackers work best when everyone seeds to a proper ratio, and we aim to encourage that behavior in the future. The prize? A 1.5tb Western Digital usb 2.0 external hard drive. We didn't spend donations on it, and that is why I am making the 1:1 rule for entry. I paid for that hdd out of my own pocket, and want it to go to someone who has at least followed the spirit of BT, and made efforts to do better than required


Finally folks, I just want to wish you all a heartfelt and sincere thank you for all you, the members, have done to make this site so flipping awesome to be around. Without you, we'd be nowhere, and it's your love of movies, and your loyalty to the rest of the passengers of this ship, that have made it possible for us to stay online, and given us the passion to keep us there.
