Ratio cap lowered to 3.0 - 12/10/14

The ratio cap (the max ratio you can achieve in the first 72 hours of a torrent life) has now been lowered from 5 x the torrent size to 3 x the torrent size, i.e. a 3.0 ratio if you leech the entire torrent.

This cap has been introduced on HDBits to limit the profitability of short-term ratio whoring and thus promote longer-term seeding. If you had previously set your fast auto-downloading server/pc with limited storage to stop at a ratio of 5.0, please set it to 3.0 now. Doing so will give regular users a better chance of being able to seed data at no cost to you or the swarm (if you manage to get a 3.0 ratio the swarm must therefore be large which means it won't suffer by seeders dropping off). Regular users and long-term seeders won't be affected by this mechanism.
