There's been a lot of hype in the past week about SeedNation and their free seedboxes after an article on FSF. In the past 24 hours a number of sites and FSF themselves have issued a warning/disclaimer about this provider. It seems the rumours are true and it's all been a scam, a crude attempt to hijack accounts and passkeys from users.

If you didn't take up SeedNation on this offer you don't need to read further. If you did, your account most likely has been compromised. Please check your account for strange downloads or activity that you haven't been part of. This would be a good time to remind users to have a unique password for each torrent site, and if you notice excess downloading it would be a very good time to reset your passkey and reset your .torrent files to the new passkey.

A general rule when it comes to freebies and seedboxes, if it sounds too good it almost certainly is. When looking for a provider go with someone who has been in business a while, has developed a good reputation. Check forums on this and other sites, and the reviews on FST and other blog/news sites and forums. Never trust a new provider offering unlimited potential, wait until they prove themselves and stick with reliable providers in the meantime.
