    Spring (err... late summer?) cleaning

Over the past few days, our Developers have been working on some minor fixes and adjustments, as well as some exciting new features for Bibliotik!
    • FLAC and SPX are no longer accepted formats for audiobooks. The level of quality preserved by FLAC is unnecessary for audiobooks, and SPX has rarely been used at all. The formats are still in the system, as there are a few dozen torrents that still offer them, but these will be phased out in preference to the three accepted formats: MP3, M4A, and M4B.

    • In order to ensure the continued stability and smooth growth of Bibliotik, the maximum number of invites a member can earn has been adjusted. For Power Users, the maximum number of invites has been set to two; for Elites, the maximum has been set to four. While this means that if you had more than that maximum, it has been reduced, you will still earn new invites (up to that maximum) as usual. Members who already had more than four invites have now been reset to four invites. For Power Users, after the extra two have been used, the normal limit applies.

    • As a new feature for the site, you can now search/filter torrents based on their [Retail] status! A dropdown selector is listed through the "Advanced Browse" option, on the main torrent index: you can search specifically for retail torrents, non-retail torrents, or both. The default is set to all torrents, so you'll still be able to see torrents that you might want to download regardless of their retail status.

    • Also, [Retail] has been officially added as a label option for requests! This means that you no longer have to add "[RETAIL]" at the end of your request title. The [Retail] label will appear on both the main request list and individual request pages. As always, it is absolutely imperative that you respect a requester's wishes: if they only want a request to be filled by [Retail], that means no conversions or copies acquired from non-accepted retail sources. You can read Uploading:Retail for clarification on what counts as a retail upload, and Rules:Requests for the proper way to create (and fill) a request.

    • As a final new update, requests no longer automatically "unfill" when a torrent has been deleted. This means that if a request was filled four years ago, but now a new torrent trumps the old torrent, then the old torrent is still deleted but the request remains "Filled" (the link to the filling torrent is just severed). The original filler still retains the bounty, unless the deletion was done because the torrent didn't satisfy the conditions of the request. If that's the case, the requester can still unfill the request, and it can be filled by a new torrent. You'll be able to see if a request's torrent has been deleted because the "Filled!" label will have a line through it and a dotted underline under it.
Our Devs are hard at work to bring new features and fixes to Bibliotik, so you can expect to see new announcements in the future! In the meantime, if you have any questions or would like to discuss the new features mentioned here, you can check out http://bibliotik.org/forums/1/3100!
