Theme: New Year / New Beginnings / Fresh

izmo: MMOTHS - For Her: This is the song I have chosen.

Woodenhead: Peter Broderick - Stopping on the Broadway Bridge: Because it reminds me of sunrise.

Nomado: Pain of Salvation - Of Two Beginnings: My favorite band, my favorite album, one my of many favorite tracks. Just give it a whole spin, it is an awesome album in its entirety.

Olenpriit: David Ruffin - So Glad I Fell For You: The New Year is supposed to symbolize New Beginnings, which is something it has *never* done for me before. However, at the end of 2013 I fell in love for the first time in my 24 years of existence. I fell in love with somebody who in a short span of time has helped me work my way past a lot of my damaging self awareness. Hence the me of today is somebody far less anxious about himself and far more in tune with his body and his desires. And for that reason I entered 2014, with her in my arms, at the beginning of a brand new world.

kaishin521: Milo - Almond Milk Paradise: With memories of 2013 still fresh on my mind, I rewind back to the beginning of that year and the hopes and expectations that I had for that year. It's pretty crazy how your perspective can change so much in such short time~ This track is intertwined with my feelings from those early days - some very based and optimistic hip-hop that will hopefully endow you with positive feelings going into this year. Happy 2014, folks!

condon313: Joie De Vivre - That Dude That Leads a Depressing Life: "I spend my days doing nothing and thinking of starting over. I could go to school in Minnesota and pay it back in twenty years. But I'd rather be in basements in Akron or Elkhorn or Kansas City." Some days I'm trapped between my expectations and my doubt. This album is bittersweet and melancholy, and reminds me that life is going to be what I make of it.

thread: Shpongle - My Head Feels Like a Frisbee: Because Simon Posford knows how my head feels.

MidniteRockr: Eleventh Day Dream - Damned Tree:

"It's time to cut the damned tree down! It's time to cut the damned tree down!
It's time to cut the damned tree down! It's time to cut the damned tree down! "'Nuff said.

Vitz: Gridlock - Return: Easily my favourite IDM act, and also what got me into IDM as a genre. Still fresh, still music for the future. Beautiful in its entirety. Nothing short of a masterpiece.

lostsupper: Gang Starr - Full Album Selection, no track: I'm old. I may not know new beginnings, I do know freshness.

zaatar: Boston - Full Album Selection, no track: Speaking of beginnings... the first album I think I ever owned. Still amazing to listen to from start to finish.

michelle: Bastille - Flaws: I used to be really big on New Year's resolutions, most of them were stupid and/or unrealistic, and never came to fruition. This year, I decided that there's no point in waiting until New Year's Eve to fix something you didn't like last year.. every day is a good day to start working on whatever you want to repair. You can hear a fantastic acoustic version of this song here, if you're interested.
