Mowest was Motown's short-lived L.A. based sublabel. During it's short existence plenty of great tracks and a handful of (apparently) fine albums were released. Unfortunately, hardly any of these albums ever saw a CD release.

Mowest failed quickly due to lack of commercial success. Light in the Attic has done the great job of recovering and compiling it's finest output. The Wire's Mark Fisher calls this compilation "an exquisitely compiled Apollonian synthesis of Soul and Funk, with a dusting of West Coast rock". I couldn't agree more.
