    Torrent naming - 13/03/15

    Dear uploaders.

We would like to remind you of certain written and rather unwritten rules or habits on correct torrent titles.

    Refer to them here:

Thank you for your attention and saving us the time fixing the errors.
    Dear uploaders.

We would like to remind you certain written and rather unwritten rules or habits on correct torrent titles (not filenames).
Many TV uploads have errors on every new episode despite all previous ones being tediously fixed by staff but the uploader doesn't care to notice.

    - Use original name as per IMDb (not English translation and TVDB has it wrong/alternative sometimes too).

    - Don't forget apostrophes, colons and question marks (i.e. characters not allowed or not used in filenames). Do not use special characters that have normal equivalents like long dash (–).

    - If there is new show with the same name like older one, year or US/UK/NZ etc. is used on TVDB. But we don't need to use it here unless the older show is present. There's high chance that we will never see that old 1975 show here. It is also weird when the show runs for 6 seasons and uses 2009 in title when we have 2015 (example: Archer 2009 S06)...

    - TV miniseries use year instead of S01. We use it to clearly distinguish it from normal seasons and they're often closer to multi-part movies than regular TV seasons. IMDb states whether it's miniseries or not. Miniseries have one season with few episodes. Some anime with 75 episodes is surely not a miniseries. The number in "Season" field for TVDB integration on upload form is 1, though.

I put strong emphasis on previous two points, read them again and remember them, please.

    - Season number 0 on upload form for TV is used solely for specials. Episode number 0 is used solely for season packs.

    - Use TVDB ID for documentary miniseries (not IMDb number) and category Documentary (not TV).

    - European H.264 captures and Blu-rays of movies and normal drama TV are progressive in 99.9% cases. Documentaries are often progressive or only with few scenes interlaced. Music and sport are usually interlaced. The progressive stream is broadcasted in a way where 1 frame is stored into 2 fields using Progressive segmented Frame method (PsF). Mediainfo and BDInfo report it's 1080i 25 fps but it is not when played back, it's 1080p 25 fps when decoded. Don't let this confuse you. It is progressive and no deinterlacing must be applied. It is safe to label movies and TV series as 1080p without checking so uploader's time isn't wasted.

Again read previous point, people ask this every week when it should be common knowledge for many years.

    - Don't forget audio codec for scene movie encodes (DD5.1, DD2.0, FLAC2.0, DTS). From some historic reasons we don't use DTS5.1, maybe because it doesn't make sense to use any other channel count with DTS. TV episodes don't need a codec in title, it's usually DD anyway.

    - Torrent titles must not use words like LIMITED or REMASTERED. Any information about edition can be stated in description.

    - Pay attention to correct order of words in the title. It's written in Rules:
    name year/season resolution medium ...-tag
Tag is separated by dash without any spaces around.
Blu-ray is used for sources, BluRay is used for encodes.

Thank you for your attention and saving us the time fixing the errors.
