BBC - Thatcher: The Downing Street Years (1993)
This is an award-winning 4-part BBC documentary series first broadcast in 1993. It combines archive footage with new interviews to provide a balanced view of Margaret Thatcher's years as Prime Minister (1979-1990).

Among the contributors are Mrs. Thatcher herself, Nigel Lawson, Geoffrey Howe and even Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachov.

It will appeal to anyone interested in British history, politics or current affairs.

    From Darwin to DNA
The year 2009 marked two important events: Firstly, it was the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth (which, coincidentally, occurred in the same year as Lamarck's important work on evolution, a theory of natural selection by inheritance of acquired characteristics); and secondly it was the 150th anniversary of the first publication of "Origin of the Species".

PBS - Arts & the Mind: The Art of Connection
Arts & the Mind, a production of Twin Cities Public Television, hosted and narrated by Lisa Kudrow, reveals the crucial impact of the arts on the human brain across our lifetimes, and explores its particularly vital role in human development during youth and older age. This two-part documentary shares stories of how music, dance, painting, poetry and theater markedly improve well-being at both ends of life, and reveals the cutting-edge science that explains the powerful, positive impact of the arts on our brains.

    Affluenza (1997)
Produced for PBS by the network's Seattle affiliate KCTS, the semi-satirical documentary Affluenza dissects America's "rampant materialism" and "epidemic of overconsumption." After exploring the causes of affluenza, the film provides a diagnosis of the symptoms and suggests possible treatments -- or "escapes" -- for the afflicted viewer. National Public Radio personality Scott Simon serves as host, while guest stars include Joe Dominguez and Vicki Robin, who suggest how to get off the "work and spend treadmill" by citing their best-selling book Your Money or Your Life; Kalle Lasn, published of Adbuster magazine and creator of anti-manipulative "subvertisements"; Jennifer Gallus and Olivia Martin, teenaged authors of the award-winning play Barbie Get Real, which skewers the conspicuous-consumption cult of the Barbie Doll; and Gleen Stanton, social research analyst for public policy on behalf of James Dobson's Focus on the Family group, who discusses religious conservatism's response to materialism in everyday life. The 56-minute Affluenza made its PBS debut on September 15, 1997, and was followed by 1998's Escape from Affluenza
