    Manual and Article Rule Revisions

We have released some rule changes for Manuals and Articles.

Manuals: We have clarified what constitutes a manual as there has been some confusion about it. Hopefully going forward there will be a clear distinction between manuals and ebooks. For consistency, we have aligned the manual rules to be more like ebooks. Accordingly, it is important to note manual packs are not allowed without staff approval. Please use the collection system instead.

Articles: As you may be aware, we've always had some rules for individual articles, but have not supported them. We have revamped the rules, and now also support articles (which should be uploaded using the "Journal" option. Please note this only applies to published articles appearing in an academic Journal.

    Actual Rule Changes

6.1.1 "Articles" refers solely to scholarly journal articles. This is specific to articles or essays that come from peer-reviewed journals of the academic world. This should not be confused with articles from media publications, such as Newsweek or Popular Science (these should be uploaded as complete Magazine issues) Additionally, unpublished works are not allowed.
6.1.1.a Articles should be uploaded using the Journal option and named as outlined in section 6.2
6.1.2 Packs of articles are not allowed. Use the collection system instead.
6.1.3 Torrent title must include the article's full title, author, publication, date of publication, and file format [in brackets].
6.1.4 Description must include relevant citation information and should list all pertinent journal/publication elements, preferably in a standardized citation style (e.g., MLA, APA).
6.1.5 Individual articles may be trumped by any issue or pack which contains the individual article.

    6.2 Naming
6.2.1 Articles should be named: "Title of Journal - Title of Article - Author(s) - Date (YYYY-MM-DD) of publication."

7.1.1 "Manuals" refers to non-periodic publications of which the primary intent is to assist the reader in accomplishing a goal using step-by-step instructions. Generally a manual comes with something you buy and is not purchased alone. It does not include self-help or self-improvement books.
7.1.1.a Generally to be considered a manual, the file must meet the following critetia:
    1) Covers the operations, repair, maintenance, or technical specifications of a specific product (or line of products)
    2) Contains the word "manual" or it's equivalent in the title
    3) Does not have a isbn, publisher, or author or is a premium manual for professional use (such as a car repair manual)
7.1.1.b If you are unsure if a publication is a manual or an ebook, please send a staff PM before uploading.
7.1.2 Packs of manuals are only allowed with prior staff approval and only in specific circumstances. Please send a staff PM for permission to upload explaining why your upload should be a pack and not individual releases. Being "too busy" to upload the files individually is not a valid reason.
7.1.2.a Proposed manual packs may only be from a single manufacturer.
7.1.2.b Manual packs that are allowed will be subject to trumping by the individual files.
7.1.3 Torrent Title must include the title of work, manufacturer of the product, model number (if appropriate), date, name of translator (if appropriate), and file format [in brackets].
7.1.4 Descriptions must include: An informational description of the work. Optionally, a link to the Wikipedia, LibraryThing, Google Books, Amazon, or any other information page for the work may be included. Your own opinion or summary of the content is also appreciated, though not required.

    7.2 Naming
7.2.1 Manuals should be named: "Manufacturer: product/model number - (any other relevant information) (date) [File Format]"
7.2.2 Approved packs should be named: "Manufacturer: product series - (any other relevant information) (date) [File Format]"
