You read that correctly, but before we get into the details, we have something important to say to you:


We heralded What.CD's one millionth torrent in an announcement posted on December 22nd, 2010 which proclaimed that "one million torrents is not the end, that much is obvious". Just a few years later, on October 29th, 2014, What.CD reached a new milestone which underscores the strength of that claim: two million torrents have been lovingly curated by this incredible community. Well done! This is a real achievement for any site—especially one with a music-first focus. Most importantly, we've accomplished this while maintaining our identity and values. We owe this celebration to you: the users.

While staff may handle reports, you're in the trenches, digging through crates of old records, buying CDs, downloading WEB releases, and sharing your love of music with the world. You are the ones who help edit this abundance of material, who maintain the front lines of quality control as we work toward archival perfection. You are the ones who help organize the massive collection, and who have made it double in size in just under four years.

At this time we'd like to recognize an outstanding community member who, by our tally, uploaded torrent number 2,000,000: numnumjuice! The award-winning torrent is, fittingly, a Perfect FLAC, and can be found here. We'll be granting a guest pick to numnumjuice in an upcoming celebration in honor of his achievement. Many thanks as well to tobbez, who made some sweet graphs highlighting our run up to lucky number 2,000,000.

We'd also like to recognize the ten users who uploaded the most torrents in the last month. Without these dedicated members, we wouldn't have been able to make the final push as quickly as we did. Thanks to them (and everyone who came before, of course) we achieved this feat midway through our birthday celebration. You can't buy that kind of timing.
