DXY is a creative technology agency with offices in Berlin, Cleveland, and London. We design and develop digital products for clients, connecting the world through devices like Internet of Things electronics, mobile applications, websites, and backends that tie everything together.


We worked to address this problem by beginning development on our own sync system, one that was peer-to-peer based. While the preliminary results were good, we then faced the reality of being an agency; we had clients who wanted to pay us more to work on their projects.

We ended up having to abandon the work on our own tool and looked for a third-party solution. This is what led us eventually to using BitTorrent Sync.

After considering our options, we decided to structure a system around Sync. We use it to connect a small network of servers in the United States and Europe, where the core file structure is mirrored on each server.

Data and content that is specific for a particular country, or is regulated under a country-specific law, is segmented for users in that region. All other information is shared between each of the servers.

Users in our organization now have access to the files they need on a server based in their region.

This removed the latency issues we had earlier, and allowed us to better apply versioning to our data, thus reducing overwrites and situations where information was not in sync.

Overall, our company has become very reliant upon BitTorrent Sync to support our growth and expansion into new markets as we pursue new ideas and products for our clients.
